Natural and rubble granulates

The term granulate covers a collection of mineral components that are often very heterogeneous, both in terms of lithology and grain size. These granulates contain both particles with a size of but a few micron and particles measuring a couple of mm; also the mineralogical composition may vary strongly.

Depending on the application of the granulates, it is extremely important to know their physical and chemical characteristics as these have a direct impact on the quality of the construction materials that are manufactured with them. As an independent laboratory, Geo Measuring & Analysis nv offers the most comprehensive range of tests on all kinds of granulates:

Natural granulates

  • Grading (including content of particles smaller than 63 µm)
  • Methylene blue test (quality of fine particles)
  • Content of organic substances
  • Content of calcareous substances or shell parts
  • Total sulphur content
  • Flatness index
  • Percentage of broken and round stones
  • Resistance to fragmentation (Los Angeles)
  • Resistance to wear (Micro Deval)
  • Flow coefficient (angularity)
  • Density and water absorption
  • Chlorine ions

Rubble granulates

  • Grading (including content of particles smaller than 63 µm)
  • Identification test
  • Methylene blue test (quality of fine particles)
  • Humus content (if necessary content of fulvic acids)
  • Content of calcareous substances
  • Flatness index
  • Percentage of broken and round stones
  • Resistance to fragmentation (Los Angeles)
  • Plasticity index (yield value and plastic limit)
  • Density and water absorption
  • Environmental analysis (including leachate test)
